Our course has been
designed with you in mind, with the person that has other
responsibilities to attend, but wants to start a change
in lifestyle that must be done, but gradually, allowing
knowledge to be absorbed and tested. The course is provided
on a once per month - three day weekend basis.
We start lessons on Friday at 6 p.m.
until 9 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

1st Weekend
Basic Massage/ Ayurvedic History
In this class the student will be given a comprehensive
background of Ayurveda, its religion and relationship to
the Vedas, as well as the understanding of Ayurveda as a
mind-body medicine. In addition we will go over the basic
history of massage and basic tools of massage.
2nd Weekend
Allied Massage/ Ayurvedic Philosophy
This will cover an overview
of the sankya philosophy. The student will learn the prime
qualities of the gunas, the elemental theory, the attributes
of the elements, and the five body governances. In addition
we will continue to practice and discuss massage.
3rd Weekend
Vedic Cosmology/ Vedic Massage
This class will provide an
introduction to the Vedic approach to the cosmos and an
interactive massage experience and will cover Marma point
therapy as well as a continued lesson in basic massage techniques.
4th Weekend
Professional Development/ 4 Element / Doshas
The student will learn how
to conduct themselves with clients, how to do a thorough
consultation, develop business ethics, and be provided with
suggestions for building a successful business practice.
We are working with NAMA to get the Ayurvedic Practitioners
Licensed, just as Massage Therapist and Acupuncturist were.
In the meantime there are several Legal Guidelines that
must be covered. This course will also encompass a comprehensive
understanding of Vata, Pitta, Kapha, their effects, attributes,
changing forces, activities, imbalances, emotional states,
diets, and sites.
5th Weeekend
Hyrotherapy/ Life and day cycles.
This course will discuss different uses of water therapies
such as when to use hot/cold. We will practice massage therapy
using the hot and cold therapies.
6th Weekend
Integrating Pathology/ Factors of living
This course will cover the climatic influence, seasons,
stages of life, daily Ayurvedic cycles of Vata Pitta, and
Kapha. Tools of observation will inform the students of
the basic Ayurvedic pulses, face, eyes, speech, tongue,
saliva, nail, and malas (stool, urine, perspiration, sputum)
for the purpose of re-establishing harmony and balance.
Massage Practice.
7th Weekend
Aromatherapy/ Integrative pathology
We will spend our time learning how to use the oils with
emotional and physical imbalances, safety, history, blending,
pregnancy, and massage using oils. The student will be given
an understanding of aromatherapy, its effects on the body,
daily routine, Ayurvedic blending, and various applications.
8th Weekend
Advanced Vedic Techniques/ Sub-doshas
A full introduction of the five forms
of Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and each location, movement, force,
and imbalance. The Subtle Forces: Tejas, Pranas, and Ojas
will be covered in this course. Their definitions, synergy,
functions of subtle energies, and a comprehensive overview
of Agni will all be given. We will also discuss basic pulse
reading techniques and observation.
9th weekend
Advanced Vedic Healing Therapies/ Massage
We will be discussing Pancha Karma
massage, Shirodara and basic overview of the Pancha karma
training, offered for students who will stay on for Year
2.
10th Weekend
Advanced Vedic techniques/ Massage
An understanding will be given of all imbalances, ama toxicity,
physical imbalances (lack of exercise, environmental factors,
diet, contagious diseases); emotional imbalances (relationships,
addictions); mental imbalances; spiritual imbalances; and
karmic imbalances. We will practice massage and the benefits
of massage treatments. In this class we will also look at
Ayurvedic methods of advanced massage and techniques of
cross fiber and lymphatic drainage.
11th Weekend
Therapeutic yoga/ Massage
This weekend will be spent learning
about the different modalities of Yoga that exist. Yoga
is a sister science of Ayurveda and we will explore many
aspects of the practice. This course also encompasses Meditation
and describes how yoga aids Ayurveda in the treatment of
disease, and understanding why it is so important.
12th Weekend
Professional Development/ Massage final
This course is on ethics, goal setting,
professional business practices, and how to build a practice.
In addition we will describe how to give a consultation.
This is also the day scheduled for the massage final and
the rest of this weekend will also be dedicated to review
and preparation for the massage board examination.
13the Weekend
Vedic herbs and Nutrition
The course dicusses the importance of herbs in Ayurveda,
their herbal constituents, ways to use herbs, herbs as medicine,
culinary herbs, and the use of herbs for each constitutional
body type. Over 150 herbs will be covered with their energetic,
medicinal uses, tastes, and post-digestive factors along
with when and how to use them. Herbal preparations and formulas
will be covered.
14th Weekend
Pulse Diagnosis/ Case Studies
Advanced Pulse Evaluation will be covered in this course
as well as readings, pathology, how to support the body
Ayurvedically in a modern world. Each Clinical weekend will
involve intense study of one Body System, the typical disturbances
which the Ayurvedic Clinical Consultant may encounter in
their clients and the Ayurvedic Approaches in each instance.
Students will present case studies and practice consulting
examination and case management under supervision.
15th Weekend
Lifestyle Consultations/Pulse Diagnosis
This course will study the different
conditions and how to prevent and support the body in healing
using massage and Ayurveda. We will also expand on pulse
diagnosis on a more advance level and will cover the Ayurvedic
Dhatus; Strotas; the Tri-Dosha theory with its functions
and nutrition; definition of Strotas (excess flow, deficient
flow, obstructed flow); overview of the sixteen Strotas;
and a comparison of Western and Ayurvedic anatomy and physiology.
16th Weekend
Six Taste Analysis/ Life Style consultations
This class will cover the six tastes in Ayurveda, their
elemental attributes, proportions needed for different body
types, over consumption of tastes, and Vipaka. We will cover
appropriate foods for each constitutional type, the role
that fruits, vegetables, seaweeds, beans, grains, oils,
dairy, fish, meat, condiments, spices, and beverages play
in Ayurveda. The student will learn how Western society
uses vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals as well as the
Ayurvedic use of vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, and
metallic substances.
17th Weekend
Clinical Practice of Vedic Philosophy Level II/ Pulse review
We will discuss the Ayurvedic clinical
disturbances and case studies and review Ayurvedic anatomy
and physiology. We will also practice pulse evaluations
and interpretations.
18th Weekend
Consultations/ Case Studies and Reports

Final Exam Course Completed
